I really wanted Natalie to document my little one’s monthiversaries and every month she delivered beyond our expectations. She worked with us before the shoots to discuss location ideas and props. She is great at working with infants and made us feel very comfortable.

Before the Shoot
We want to make sure the shoot goes as smoothly as possible, and deliver on the goals you’ve got for our session, so all packages include a pre-planning phone call where we’ll discuss artistic direction, what to wear, what to bring (ie. kids need entertainment!), location, and any specific expectations you have about what you want us to capture.
As a general rule, we prefer to do all sessions (except newborns) outside, because while there’s a lot of great equipment out there for lighting, nothing really compares to how natural light makes not only the setting, but also your skin, look its best. We also do all sessions in Vancouver, or a $50 relocation fee will be charged throughout the Lower Mainland ($5 of which will go to purchasing carbon offsets for our vehicle usage).
A $50 deposit is due at the time of booking.
After the Shoot
Two to three weeks after your session, you’ll receive access to your very own personalized online slideshow. Should you wish to do a post-viewing design consultation, these consults are $20/hour, but the fee will be waived if you opt to purchase any of our products or design services. Whether it’s just some additional editing of the photos to black and white or sepia, help designing a postcard, invitation, or birth announcement, or a full-blown photobook, just let us know and we can work together to ensure this session provides you what you need.

How We Work | What to Expect
Having families ourselves we know how unpredictable kids can be. We know naps are a priority, moods can change at the drop of a hat, and sometimes, kids just don’t want anything to do with the thing it is that you’re asking them to do. But living it ourselves, we completely get it and can be very accommodating. We’ll take the time to get to know you and your family, so we can really capture what your family dynamic is all about. Everyone’s got a different story, and we’d love to be able to capture yours.
At the beginning of the session we’ll spend some time chatting with you and your kids so everyone (especially the kids) gets comfortable. There’ll be a mixture of posed and candid shots, but we can almost GUARANTEE you some of the best shots we’ll get will be when you’re all just going with the flow, and have forgotten we’re even there.
Our goal is to enjoy the day out, capture some of the moments of the day, and just have a fun and relaxed afternoon. With West & Abbott Photography, we want you to take home photos that feel real, that feel like who you and your family were at that time, on that day, and that feel like something you’ll want to look back on again and again and again.
